After the ICONIC AWARD 2025, now the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2026

03 November 2025

The unique design for the Preparations Pavilion, based on a concept by Yaike Dunselman of the Dutch-German architectural firm 9grad architektur and member of the leadership team of the Visual Arts Section, has once again received an award! The project impressed the jury of the German Design Award 2026 and was honoured with the title of Winner in the category ‘Excellent Architecture’.

The German Design Award is the most important international award presented by the German Design Council. With its global reach and international significance, it is one of the most prestigious prizes in the world of design. Since 2012, it has been honouring outstanding developments in design. Every year, exceptional projects in the fields of architecture, product design and communication design are awarded.

The Preparations Pavilion won in the Excellent Architecture category. The new building on the grounds of the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, creates a covered outdoor space where gardeners can produce and present biodynamic preparations. A characteristic feature is the large, organically curved roof, whose twisted wooden rafters are reminiscent of a blossoming flower. Its tectonic design references the neighbouring Heizhaus designed by Rudolf Steiner and blends naturally into the surrounding landscape.
